Values are energy that moves us, yet few of us are consciously aware of what our highest-priority values really are. The Values Perspectives Survey online is a simple, thee-step process that helps the person taking it to reflect on value choices, answering the question: What’s most important to me?
What you get from taking the survey is a chance to reflect on values, to weigh, sort and compare what values move you the most, to arrive at a list of your top nine most highly-prioritized values, together with guidelines for understanding the general Perspective or worldview you use as a lens to interpret your values and the values of others around you.
Knowing your values with clarity helps you make conscious decisions that will truly reflect what is most important. Knowing what your values are helps you to be sensitive to the values of others, promoting clear communication, increasing your ability to positively influence, and helping to avoid and reduce conflict. Knowing your values helps you set goals that will bring you to the place you really want to be.
The Values Perspectives Survey is a tool that can be used
- by an individual to reflect on her or his values and their import in personal and professional life.
- by a trained coach or consultant, to engender dialogue leading to understanding and appropriate action.
- by teams, groups, or organizations, to understand the values culture that really exists, guide dialogue toward agreement on shared values, and set strategy.
